How to calculate per mille

Per Mille is also known as per mil. It implies parts per thousand.

1 per mille is 1/1000 fraction.

1‰= 1/1000 = 0.001

50 ‰× 100$ = 50/1000 × 100 = 5 $

Convert per mille to decimals

To get the decimals result, divide the number by 1000 or multiplied by a fraction of 1000.

Convert per mille to decimals formula: decimals = per mille * 1/1000

For example:

5 ‰ = 5 ÷ 1000 = 0.005 or 5 ‰ = 5 * 1/1000 = 5/1000 = 1/200 = 0.005

100 ‰ = 100÷ 1000 = 0.1 or 100 ‰ = 100 * 1/1000 = (100 )/1000 = 0.1

500 ‰ = 500 ÷ 1000 = 0.5 or 500 ‰ = 500 * 1/1000 = 500/1000 = 1/2 = 0.5

1000 ‰ = 1000÷ 1000 = 1 or 1000 ‰ = 10000 * 1/1000 = 1000/1000 = 1

2000 ‰ = 2000 ÷ 1000 = 2 or 2000 ‰ = 2000 * 1/1000 = 2000/1000 = 2

Convert Decimalize to per mille

To get the per mille result, just multiply the number by 1000, then you can get the answer.

Convert decimals to per mille formula: per mille = decimals * 1000

For example:

0.001 = 0.001 * 1000 = 1 ‰

0.01 = 0.01 * 1000 = 10 ‰

0.1 = 0.1 * 1000 = 100 ‰

1 = 1 * 1000 = 1000 ‰

5 = 5 * 1000 = 5000 ‰

10 = 10 * 1000 = 10000 ‰

Convert per mille to Percent

To get percent result, divide the number by 10 or multiplied by a fraction of 10.

Convert per mille to percent formula: Percent = per mille * 1/10

For example

Convert 1 per mille to percent: 1 ‰ * 1/10 = 0.1 %

Convert 10 per mille to percent: 10 ‰ * 1/10 = 1 %

Convert 100 per mille to percent: 100 ‰ * 1/10 = 10 %

Convert 1000 per mille to percent: 1000 ‰ * 1/10 = 100 %

Convert 5000 per mille to percent: 5000 ‰ * 1/10 = 500 %

Convert Percent to per mille

Convert Percent to per mille, you need just multiply the number by 10.

Convert percent to per mille formula: per mille = percent * 10

For example

Convert 1 percent to percent: 1 % * 10 = 10 ‰

Convert 10 percent to percent: 10 % * 10 = 100 ‰

Convert 100 percent to percent: 100 % * 10 = 1000 ‰

Convert 1000 percent to percent: 1000 % * 10 = 10000 ‰

Convert 5000 percent to percent: 5000 % * 10 = 50000 ‰

Miscellaneous Dimensional analysis

Dimensional units of different parameters can be combined to represent a separate entity in itself. PPM used in Chemical engineering uses both unit of mass (mg) and unit of volume (l) and same is an indication of concentration in a given liquid.

Parts Per Million

This is mainly used in the measurement of mass of a chemical or contaminate per unit volume of water. Its short form is PPM. It is also expressed in terms of milligrams per litre (mg/L).

1 ppm  = absolute fractional amount multiplied by 1 million. It is also equal to 1 milligram (mg) of something per litre water (mg/l).

Parts Per Billion

It is the number of units of mass of containment per 1000 million units of total mass. Its short form is ppb.

PPM and PPB can be converted to each other with the following relation.

1 parts per million = 1000 parts per billion.

For example, in soil, 1 ppm = 1mg/kg of containment in soil.

1 ppb = 1 ug/kg.

One measurement of 6mg/kg is similar to 6 ppm or 6000 ppb. It is equivalent to 6000ug/kg.

Parts Per Trillion

It is a measurement of quantity of a material in air or soil or water. Concentration of 1 PPT indicates there is 1 part of that material for every 1 trillion parts of either air or soil or water in which it is present. 1 PPT is also equivalent to 1 nanogram per kilogram.

It indicates 1 part per 1000000000000 (1012) or equivalent to 10-12. It is equal to 30 seconds out of every million years. Its short form is PPT.
