What is the modulo?

The modulo, also known as the modulus, refers to the remainder of dividing one number by another. It is represented by the symbol mod or %. For example, 10 mod 3 is 1, which means that the remainder of 10 divided by 3 is 1. It can also be represented by 10 % 3 = 1.

If two numbers are divisible, their modulus is 0. For instance, 18 mod 6 is 0, because the quotient of 18 divided by 6 is 3, the remainder is 0.

In short, computing the modulus of two numbers is the process of finding the remainder.
