Kaprekar Number Checker is a free online tool used to check if the number is a Kaprekar number.
What is a Kaprekar number?
A natural number is a Kaprekar number for a given base, called as p-Kaprekar number if the square of the number in that base can be split into two parts where the second part has p digits, and the sum of the two parts result is equal to the original number. None of the two parts should have the value of 0. These are named after D. R. Kaprekar.
For example, to find whether 55 is a Kaprekar number?
552 = 3025
30 + 25 = 55
So, 55 is a Kaprekar number. The second part has 2 digits, it’s also called as 2-Kaprekar number.
How to check if a number is a Kaprekar number?
There are at least 2 steps to determine whether a number is a Kaprekar number:
- Calculate the square of the number.
- Split the squared value into two parts, and determine whether the sum of the two parts is equal to the original number.
For example, Is 45 a Kaprekar number?
First, calculate the square of 45
452 = 2025
Second, split the squared value into two parts. By observation, 2025 can be divided into 20 and 25, then 20 + 25 = 45.
Obviously, 45 is a 2-Kaprekar number.
