How to find two numbers based on the given ratio and HCF

First, what is HCF?

HCF is short for highest common factor, which refers to the biggest number that divides more than 2 numbers without leaving a remainder. It is called by many names – greatest common factor (GCF), greatest common divisor (GCD) and highest common divisor (HCD).

According to the question, the ratio of numbers is 3:5 and their HCF is 8.

We can easily get these two numbers, they are 3 * 8 = 24 and 5 * 8 = 40.

Very simple, and can be done in one step. Of course, if you want to be lazy, you can directly use the free calculator available on our page to find two numbers by given ratio and HCF. No calculations required and displays the answer in milliseconds.

Next, we will introduce how to use the calculator.

How to use the calculator to find two numbers by ratio and HCF

Next, let’s look at some examples.

Solved examples using the calculator to find two numbers by ratio and HCF

Example 1: The ratio of two numbers is 11:15 and their HCF is 13. What are the numbers?

Enter 11 in the first input box.

Enter 15 in the second input box.

Enter 13 in the third input box.

Then click Calculate button, as shown in the figure, the two numbers are 143 and 195.

143:195 = 11:15

HCF(143, 195) = 13

The ratio of two numbers is 11:15 and their HCF is 13. What are the numbers?

Example 2: The ratio of two numbers is 3:4 and their HCF is 15. What are the numbers?

Enter 3 in the first input box.

Enter 4 in the second input box.

Enter 15 in the third input box.

Then click Calculate button, as shown in the figure, the two numbers are 45 and 60.

45:60 = 3:4

HCF(45, 60) = 15

The ratio of two numbers is 3:4 and their HCF is 15. What are the numbers?
