A number is an automorphic number if the square of the number results in a number, whose ends digits are the same as the number itself.

To calculate an automorphic number, take the square of the number. Compare the last digit/digits of the resulting squared answer to the original number. If the last digit/digits match the number, it is an automorphic number.

For example, consider the number 5

5² = 25

The last digit of the squared result is 5, which is the same as the original number. So, 5 is an automorphic number.

Similarly, 6 is an automorphic number because 6² is 36 and the last digit of the answer is 6 itself. 7 is not automorphic because 7² is 49 and the last digit is not 7.
